Suburban Water Inc.(“Suburban Water,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from customers and website visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to the customer-service forms and text-message notifications we provide.

We collect information you provide directly when you request water service or contact us, including:

  • Name, service address, and mailing address.
  • Contact information, including email address and phone number(s).
  • Account and service details you provide on our forms (e.g., occupancy, billing preferences, service dates).
  • Your electronic signature and consent selections submitted with a service request.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and administer your water service, including to:

  • Set up, transfer, or stop service and maintain your account.
  • Process billing and respond to your requests and inquiries.
  • Send you service-related communications by email and, if you opt in, by text message (SMS).
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and public-health obligations applicable to a water utility.

SMS / text messaging program

If you opt in, Suburban Water may send you transactional SMS text messages about your service request and account — such as request confirmations, status and scheduling updates, and service notifications. Opt-in is collected only through a clearly labeled, unchecked checkbox on our Start Service form. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving water service.

  • Message frequency varies based on your account activity and requests.
  • Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
  • Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. You can also call our office at 913-724-1800.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate our water utility — for example, with service providers that help us run billing, our website, or message delivery, and only to the extent necessary to perform those services — or when required by law. As stated above, your mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are never shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Data retention & security

We retain your information for as long as needed to provide service and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information.

Your choices

You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You may update your contact information or ask questions about your data by contacting our office. To request changes to information on file, please call or email us using the details below.

Children’s privacy

Our services are intended for adults establishing or managing water service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above.
